A different ride start
point for rides twds Akuna Bay, West Head, Warriewood etc. due to
increased traffic on Mona Vale Rd, compared to Muggs earlier
incarnations.
Road
traffic on Muggs’ Sunday rides seems to have almost doubled in the last
15 years or so, such is the wealth and density of Sydney-ites.
The final
1.5km returning back into St Ives carpark can be daunting because there are
three lanes of traffic with no cycle lane and LOTS of motorists in a hurry to
return from church.
I have
altered the Start spot to
Ayres Rd (200m Sth or Hassel Park) which is about 1.5km NNE of our
traditional start point opposite Pattisons Patisserie.
There should be adequate parking as it is an artery to Sydney Grammar
Preparatory School (West side) and Sir Eric Woodward school (East side) –
neither would have much traffic on a Sunday.
Click on
Muggs Bullsheet
for a ride from St Ives carpark back on 26 Mar 2006 - 14 years ago - where I ended up
visiting
Gordon Police Station, but not getting the response that I asked for.
After hearing my account of the unsavour
incident a few hours earlier on Mona Vale Rd, the Police Occifer, wearing
black motor bike leather boots, that I spoke
to mid-arvo at Gordon Police Station, accused me of 'road rage' for over reacting to a Turkey who
had 'horned me'.
Also open and read my written report that I took to Gordon Police station
(on a Word.doc file).
There were three young blokes in the car that I stopped on Mona Vale Rd,
by pulling up my bicycle in the middle of the lane,
about 200m shy of Pattisons Patisserie after the driver had honked me
to move to the left of the lane.
I was
travelling at approx 35km an hour as the road section was slightly
descending twds the base of that decline at Link Rd. The only
thing on the left of that road lane is a concrete gutter. The
driver's two male passengers were Sheepish. I suspect
'cause they figured that their driver mate had been stupid.

Hornsby to Mt White 'n
back - 70km - 5 riders
Part of
Matt aka Printer missed the pic.
Or was it the photographer's sloppy-ness?
In the background,
Eric aka PapaBear
doesn't look a HappyCamper at
PitS. Or was he
just taking a breather after a lengthy verbal address to the brethren at the
Mt White Nosh Stop'?
Eric missed his vocation as
an
ecclesiastic pastor 'holding
court'
to provide guidance to his 'flock'
on Sunday mornings.
PapaBear
is so adept at it!
Father PapaBear
doesn't quite
'have that ring to it'. Pastor PapaBear
maybe does. No doubt, Eric would have 'sounded thunder'
if the
'flock'
didn't reach into their pockets when the 'collection plate'
was handed around immediately after his Sunday sermon from the pulpit where he
wouldn't require a microphone.

The tough get going when the going wasn't
even tough, 'cause it was a delightful 'unhot' morn' which did, however,
warm up by mid-arvo when
Lea aka SlowLea
and
Bank Teller
completed their respective routes with
SlowLea
registering 130km and
Bank Teller
117km.
Jean
aka ChiliDog 'did a Uie" at Windsor thereby clocking
around 100km
About 'three clicks' shy of Windsor
Sheep on the LHS weren't interested.
But the goats on the RHS must 've thought we had some tucker, 'cause
they were approaching
Lea aka SlowLea
in hope
