Scribe's rap-of Seven Hills Windsor, Freeman's Reach, Lowlands, Cornwallis - 92km - 3 The satellite pics at Weather info on Muggs' Home Page showed lots of cloud around Sparrow Fart coming from the NNW. An o'cast sky 'n wet roads, didn't deter BankTeller nor Rick aka HillMonster from rolling out of Turra' station at 6:45am to meet ToothFairy 'en route'. Risk peeled-off early cause he had to be home by 11am or woe betide future leave passes. Ann and Phil didn't get rained on once, but 10 mins after BankTeller climbed into his jalopy at Turra' station carpark post- ride, it veritably pissed down. Muggs has lots of scenic rides such as last Sunday's Palm Beach ferry to Wagstaffe 118km where the blue Pacific is on ya RHS most of the route to Lisarow, followed by the Hawkesbury on ya LHS. However, if you've ever cycled through the farm districts of Western France around Bordeaux, then yesterday's ride 'takes the cake' 'cause the 35km route thru Freeman's Reach, Lowlands, Cornwallis is serene escapism.
Secret train rides are going on unabated with Samurai, Tyro, The Kaiser and I.T. Nerd clocking-up another 170km over the "Hornsby, Peats Ridge, Spencer, Wisemans Ferry, Old Northern Rd, Glenorie, Galston loop" yesterday in training for the Audax Alpine Classic at Bright Vic. where thus far 9 Muggs have committed - Navigator, Samurai, Jean aka DishPig, Tyro, The Kaiser and I.T. Nerd, Gracinda aka Seniorita, Kerry H, Scribe. Last Friday week a few of them rode 190km over Huit Montagnes. Over 4 consecutive w'ends in Nov Sputnik rode a 200km, 300km, 600km and 400km qualifiers for the 2007 PBP. What happened to a lazy hundred drowned in caffeine? Speaking of which, Linda has sold The Bridge Cafe at Windsor, 'cause she's in foal. Bank Teller met the new leasehold owner yesterday, Melissa, who has worked at The Bridge under Linda. Melissa promises more of the same. Scribe 24 Dec '06 |
