national program promoted and delivered
consistently throughout Australia, supported by
educational and delivery resources. 'Get
on the Green''
is designed to increase new memberships by
repositioning the game as a casual, accessible
and relaxed moderate sport that conveys a
message of fun, flexibility and simple rules.
Key elements are:
Accessibility to programs and equipment;
The program comprises
a 6-week structured 60-90 minute Lawn Bowls
playing modified and traditional game formats.
Games are fun and fast paced and designed to
suit all skill levels from beginners to
experienced bowlers. Participants may
participate as an individual or a team in mixed
competitions/games. Clubs provide all Lawn Bowls
equipment to participants at no extra cost.
'Get
on the Green'
targets 20-50 year olds who are new or
existing social bowlers in metropolitan and
regional areas - delivered through a minimum of
250 local bowling clubs over 3 years. Being a MREA, Lawn Bowls does not provide a cardio vascular workout, however it is a complex game which challenges the mind and counters isolation and Depression, particularly amongst the elderly. 3.
