Yoga originated from a group of ancient spiritual practices in India involving postures and stretching.  Major branches of Yoga include: Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Raja Yoga.  Most yoga classes last for 60 to 90 minutes and comprise an instructor and 10 to 15 participants known as students.

Being a MREA, Yoga does not normally provide a cardio vascular workout, however its psychological and physiological benefits from increasing flexibility and strengthening core muscle groups amidst a disciplined relaxing environment, which reduces spinal injuries and staves off incontinence amongst the elderly, is significant.
