4.(c)     Pursuing Economic Materialism often comes at a stressful price due to Seven Lifestyle Behavioural Influences

The following Seven Lifestyle Behavioural Influences which generally commence impacting in teenage years render the joy of playing outside with your mates a distant childhood memory for many adults, whereupon the associated self-confidence gained from Youthful Exuberance may dissipate:

(I)          pressures of getting an education and pursuing a career in a competitive global economy, where many jobs entail sitting at a work station for up to 10 hours talking into pieces of  plastic, taping on other pieces of plastic in order to meet deadlines often in a PC diary such as Outlook;

(II)         puberty followed by physical relationships and associated financial obligations/responsibilities including accommodation;

(III)        getting a licence, followed by purchasing a motor car whereupon walking and cycling usually diminishes;

(IV)       family responsibilities, in particular meeting the cost of raising children;

(V)        Recreational Drug Use often consumed to counter the stresses of modern life which can lead to Substance Abuse;

(VI)       the Internet, which is evidencing humans since the turn of the century, increase their sedentary behaviour by sitting in front of pieces of plastic and communicating with other humans on average of 2 hours a day longer than a generation before; and

(VII)      the unfetted control and power of the 5th Guidance Influence intent on "You need our product" epitomising the enormous power of advertising in moulding Western society's penchant for Economic Materialism which lower socio-economic communities often cannot afford the associated Lifestyle Behaviour to the detriment of their Personal Health & Fitness.

Physiotherapists use a maxim "If you don't use it, you lose it!"  to highlight that eventually the squeaky gate gets the oil because when you want to open that gate again you injure yourself because you have pushed beyond a diminished elastic limit.  Whereupon it is off to the physio to treat the injury.

Similarly the self-confidence and physical fitness accompanying Youthful Exuberance is "lost" if the associated physical challenges of Youthful Exuberance aren't continued.

Alas, too often adults who had displayed patent self-confidence, vigour, fitness and good health as teenagers, can appear to their former class mates at school reunions, even as little as 10 years after, to have lost so much of their teenage characteristics.
