Final section of our
route to Whale Beach offers two options. After
Sag Stop at Church Point, via -
* hilly Newport Arms/Clareville/Careel Bay. This hilly route now avoids the
'killer' 600m 21.4o climb up
Loombah St
by turning R at Herbert Ave. The peak gradient is now only 17.4o
in Cheryl Cres, but it remains a demanding ride leg requiring a triple or
massive quads; or
* up main beach road by turning Left into Darley
St and then Left into Barrenjoey Rd past Bungan Beach, Newport, Bilgola,
Avalon and Right into Whale Beach Rd
Weaker riders,
or those without a very low gears,
may opt to ride on the main beach road
which is much flatter, but busier.
Cycle
two abreast on single lane roads at own risk, and never
ride two abreast with a unbroken centre line
Keep well to LHS
of the road and get
off the road at Sag Stops
-
Don't
cross 3 lanes of traffic at lights at McCarrs Creek Rd back onto Mona Vale Rd.
Rather return
along Larool Rd, or use the tunnel under Mona Vale Rd

Bank
Teller's rap-up of
Tour de Windsor,
Freemans Reach,
Richmond,
Lowlands, Cornwallis - 111km - 9 cyclists
Martin aka
Architect points about that Muggs' route to Windsor will change
after today, 'cause the shoulder to Beecroft Rd is being converted to a 3rd
motor vehicle lane. Muggs' rides to Windsor will therefore entail us
taking a back roads route from Vimiera Rd to the Beecroft Rd entrance to the M2.
We will still start from Turramurra station, with options to start at Vimiera Rd
and Beecroft Rd entrance to M2. The net effect will mean our route to
Windsor (from Turramurra station) will take about 10 mins longer and be more
scenic.
20 mins later, Martin's front wheel snagged a few flats which
ended his ride
Hugh aka Wellington 'en route' to Windsor amidst lush,
verdant greenery.
Above 'n below snaps at The Bridge where the new owner has
followed in Linda's footsteps, 'cause she's also expecting.
The
Kaiser, Todd
'n Samurai who
rode via Hallcrows Rd.
Reputedly the oldest large stone church in Oz. the good
folk 15 clicks north contend that their humble brick church at Ebenezer is even
older. Muggs' rides pass 'em both.
