Scribe's rap-of Tour de Windsor, returning via Wilberforce, Ebenezer, Sackville ferry, Maroota, Halcrows Rd, Galston Gorge to Turra' station - 126km A tough ride thanks to Rex aka Pimpernel who threw down the gauntlet to return via Sackville ferry and Maroota - really out in the boondocks, and the long way home. Arno, Samurai, Rex and Guy aka Lawyer had started from Hornsby arriving via Pitt Town Rd whereupon they met Brian aka Whippet and Tony aka Publican. It was real good to chat with both of them especially the Whippet who has to rank as the toughest cyclist alive to bounce back from major spinal surgery in the neck resulting from a nasty bingle to successfully return to road cycling. Brian mentioned to the lads at The Bridge Cafe that he now has 9 small screws supporting the injured vertebrae. Alas, Scribe didn't remember his trusty camera 'til after Whippet and Publican had headed-back. Lets hope we see more of 'em because they are two stalwarts who provided tremendous support for Muggaccinos on many rides during its formative years.

Andy's Cafe, Nth Galston, after 105km where Mrs Andy snapped this pic
The above pic from the familiar Hornsby Heights Bus Shelter was supposed to show four knackered cyclists after scaling Galston Gorge on a 126km epic via Sackville ferry and Marotta. Alas the chic dude on the RHS did a piss-fart job of sticking his tongue out. But perhaps he wasn't knackered, after all he had snuck in a 150km Audax training ride the day before.
The two youngens took the two pics further above. Scribe 13 May '07 |
