Community Bicycle Group or Community Bike Group means a dozen or more Cyclists who cycle on regular basis which - (i) has no legal entity such as a 'Registered Bicycle Club' or Bicycle Organisation; (ii) is not sponsored by a bike shop or a licensed sporting club which partially subsidises the cost of team jerseys; and (iii) invariably incorporates a LCCBSG which inter alia - (a) fosters a Sense of Community; and (b) facilitates a sense of identity, entity and visibility.
Approx. 50% of Cyclists assemble once a week depending on the weather and other commitments. The majority of the Community Bicycle Group would usually live within 10km radius of the central start location(s) of their organised rides.
Annexure A lists approx 200 Bicycle User Groups which are affiliated with their state cycling body. For example, 69 Bicycle User Groups are affiliated with Bicycle NSW.
Over 50% of Community Bicycle Groups are Bicycle User Groups under organisations such as Bicycle NSW and Bicycle Victoria.
In addition to the above dedicated Bicycle User Groups there would be at least 20% additional local Community Bicycle Groups comprising at least a dozen or so friends and family that cycle on most weekends which have not sought to be affiliated with or accredited as a Bicycle User Group or advocacy group. At least 30% of these Bicycle User Groups do not have there own dedicated team cycle jersey which would assist them attract more Cyclists. Very few of the additional 20% local Community Bicycle Groups have purchased a dedicated team jersey due to the high one-off artwork cost and politics often involved in agreeing a jersey design and funding.
Community Project Join a Green Team - A) targets local district Community Bicycle Groups which are formed by Australians with a Sense Of Community and a desire to express their concerns over Climate Change; and B) is intended to assist such groups attract more Cyclists to also foster a LCCBSG by enabling them to buy in quantities as few as a 15, Join a Green Team Team Jerseys with the own Team Name displayed thereon at approx 30% less than if the Community Bicycle Group designed its own team jersey.
