KOM Information Memorandum KOM Defined Terms KOM Challenge Series Calendar and Event Costs to 2012 KOM Summary Bullet Points KOM SWOT Analysis Section 13B(c) Solicit support of CEOs of Australia's Top 200 Companies and Heads of major Federal and State Government agencies to invite their employees to consider Annual KOM Challenge Series The CEOs of major companies like to encourage their employees - (i) towards safe, healthy exercise which strengthens both mind and body within a LCCBSG, and (ii) to contribute for a worthy charitable cause. Section 13A(e) explains that the Wheelchair Sports Association NSW would receive the $75 KOM Qualifiers Semi Finalist Entry Fee for each of the 420 Abled Qualifiers (except Disabled Qualifiers who will pay no Entry Fee) for the Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series in Sydney. Each Abled Qualifier would receive a $75 tax deductible receipt from Wheelchair Sports Association NSW. The comparable Wheelchair Sports Association in each state would similarly receive the aggregate of KOM Qualifiers Semi Finalist Entry Fee from Abled Qualifiers in their state or the ACT. The Event Organiser and Wheelchair Sports Association NSW would write a joint letter to the following asking these entities to recommend to their Sydney based employees cycling and participating in the Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series in Sydney - * CEOs of Australia's top 200 companies; * Heads of NSW Government Departments/Agencies; and * Heads of Commonwealth Government Departments The Event Organiser is happy to draft a suitable letter which - (I) extols the merits of the Youthful Exuberance Lifestyle Programme Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series; (II) invites the CEO to circulate a url to a promo page for the Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series encouraging his employees to discover the joys of cycling, and providing maps and direction details to several enjoyable rides; (III) explains that the Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series caters to both Abled, Disabled and Disadvantaged people, which Wheelchair Sports Association NSW endorses and will benefit by way of a $75 donation for 420 KOM Qualifiers Semi Finalist Entry Fees from Abled Cyclists; and (IV) asks the CEO to invite his employees to consider - (A) cycling up marvellous KOM Climbs across Greater Sydney and Illawarra under safe, Individual Time Trial conditions; and (B) logging some Climb Times at www.KOMpm.com to qualify for a Semi Finals berth in the Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series.
The Event Team met with Tourism Australia
which is keen to add its support for an Annual KOM Series which can
attract inter-state and overseas visitors.
(A) Inaugural Annual KOM Challenge Series; and (B) the fervour to lead the way in providing a commoditised annual cycling event (product) which can be propagated to each Australian State and to large cities globally via the Internet.
Back on 11 October 2004 after the Event Organiser had built www.KOMpm.com, the Event Organiser e-mailed a bicycle friend of the Federal Minister for Health & Ageing, Anthony Curtain, on 11 Oct 2004. The Event Organiser's e-mail was titled "Submission by Phil Johnston for a safe healthy exercise initiative which could be controlled by Dept of Health for the benefit of millions of Australians" which invited Federal Health and Ageing to lead the way by providing a Federal Health polka dot jersey to Winners of an Annual King of the Mountain Challenge Series to demonstrate that Health and Ageing also focused on treating the cause, rather than the costly effect, of ill-health.
The Event Organiser received a general letter of support from Federal Dept of Health and Ageing dated 6 December 2004 commending the initiative, but suggesting he approach State Health departments.
Few could then have envisaged that 3½ years later -
1. an
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), at a conference in late April
2007 in Bangkok which drew scientists, environmentalists and government
officials from over 120 countries, unanimously concurred that a
shift in lifestyles
and energy consumption patterns,
rather than dependence on green-friendly
technology, is required to address
global warming; and
2. vast numbers within the electorate and several politicians, most notably Greens Leader, Senator Bob Brown of Tasmania, are demanding Government play a pro-active role to provide a blueprint to Materially Alter Lifestyle which leaves a small Personal Carbon Footprint. |
