Dear Garry

IB&M Alumni's charter could incorporate a Time Available Now To Assist Others Programme ("TANTAOP") marshalling Project Finance & Other Banking Skills of Interested IB&M Alumni Members to assist other less fortunate Australians by -

*           collectively working in a Philanthropic capacity on new cost-effective Preventive Health Programmes; and/or

*           providing an Annual Volunteering Calendar to enable Interested IB&M Alumni Members to volunteer some of their time to sanctioned Registered Charities and not-for-profits

I retired almost three years ago, and I have never been more busy having -

(i)         obtained an Owner Builder Permit refurbing, 'hands on' 5 days a week for 18 months, my very large home at Freshwater which overlooks Curl Curl beach;

(ii)        written Two National Preventive Health Research Programmes (containing over 600 Defined Terms For Two National Preventive Health Research Programmes, over 300 pages of Business Plans, with Budget Costs which I have submitted to the National Preventive Health Taskforce, and other government agencies, as logged in Annexure G "Schedule of Correspondence", intent upon NPA's  Board of Governance sanctioning these Two National Programmes - If successful I receive a $1 Peppercorn Fee for the IP contained therein;

(iii)       written Four Risk Management Articles (published in Bicycle NSW's website Push On) which 'inter alia' recommend changes to road rules to facilitate more cars remaining in garages and enabling more Australians to improve their physical/mental health on safer roads;

(iv)       administered two cycling websites, Muggaccinos.com and KOMpm.com for endurance hill climbers, providing a >100km hilly road ride each Sunday which attracts up to 20 cyclists; and

(v)        cycled as 'Pilot' for 8 different vision impaired "Rear Stokers" with over 9 of the rides being >100km with the longest 126km.

I have also provided my time to a few 'Registered Charities' and not-for-profits.  This Friday, is National Bandanna Day, and I will be selling bandannas for $3 each at the corner of George St and Martin Place from 7am to 9:30am for Canteen "The Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer"

On Sat 7 Nov 2009 I am a guest at a 'Volunteer Gala Awards Dinner  - Ordinary People Extraordinary Deeds' at City Tatts Club for taking on various volunteer roles, where some cycle friends who have volunteered a lot more than me are also guests.  I have written a few articles extolling the benefits/merits of volunteering including "Volunteering can give you a Warm Fuzzy".

Many IB&M Alumni members possess specialist Project Finance & Other Banking Skills.  In retirement, some have spare time on their hands to help others less fortunate than themselves.  Prime Minister's Goal To Involve The Private Sector, Facilitate Corporate Social Responsibility And Utilise Golden Gurus explains that Kevin Rudd wants to marshall and utilise these skills.

If you want to expend 5 mins which further explain ii) above, click on 5 Minute Snapshot of YELP or First Business Plan The Executive Summary summarises YELP.

My Second National Preventive Health Research Programme which is a Social Infrastructure Research Programme is explained at Bohemian Teenagers Arts Assistance Programme.

I would be keen to meet with other Interested IB&M Alumni Members who may be prepared to -

a)         draw upon their Project Finance & Other Banking Skills to collectively work in a Philanthropic capacity on new cost-effective Preventive Health Programmes; and/or

b)         set up a diary of events such as Canteen's  National Bandanna Day, and a database of contacts of Registered Charities and other not-for-profits which are sanctioned by the 'Commonwealth Bank Benevolent Fund' such as Ms. Zulfaa Teh, National Community Fundraiser, CanTeen "The Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer", whereby Interested IB&M Alumni Members could provide their time for a few hours, a day or longer (ie if volunteering for the Masters Games etc) - in particular progressive charities such as Youth Off The Streets, Homeless World Cup, Midnight Street Soccer and Midnight Basketball which assist, "with a lot of hands-on support" the Marginalised to improve their QOL and Contribution To Society.

Incorporating a Preventive Health Programmes and Annual Volunteering Calendar under the acronym TANTAOP within the charter of IB&M Alumni could provide a vehicle for Interested IB&M Alumni Members to utilise their specialist Project Finance & Other Banking Skills, either collectively or individually, to assist many thousand fellow Australians less fortunate than themselves.  If you or a colleague, is prepared to review my Two National Preventive Health Research Programmes, and you share my optimism for their integrity and viability, that forecast could rise to assisting hundreds of thousands of fellow Australians.

I welcome a 'phone call or e-mail with any questions/comments.

NB:   I initially submitted my YELP Holistic Hub First Business Plan to Professor Warwick Anderson, CEO, NHMRC of Australia on 12 Nov 2007 Professor Anderson's response dated 13th Dec 2007 suggested I approach NSW Health and finished with "I trust this information is helpful and I wish you well in your endeavours."

Shaun Larkin, HCF, is one of the 7 members of the National Preventive Health Taskforce.  Shaun's e-mail to me, the Business Plan Developer, of 31 July 2008 5:18 PM included -

"Input and content such as you have provided is very much appreciated by me in my role as a member of the National Preventive Health Taskforce.  I suggest you forward a copy of the information provided to Peter Morris at the Department of Health and Ageing."

Log # 53 in Annexure G "Schedule of Correspondence"  is Chair of Taskforce's letter to the Business Plan Developer dated 2 April 2009 which noted "Best wishes for continued development of the programme."

Upon receiving Shaun's e-mail, and subsequently chatting with him at his office at HCF in George St, and receiving the above-mentioned fleeting note of support from Dr. Rob Moodie, Head of the Preventive Health Taskforce, I continued developing the YELP First Business Plan with gusto, which accords with the Prime Minister's Goal To Involve The Private Sector, facilitate Philanthropy and 'Corporate Social Responsibility' and utilise Golden Gurus.

Peter Morris, Dept of Health & Ageing, letter to me dated 2 July 2009 included "the Government will consider on merit any recommendations the Taskforce may make concerning support for community programs in physical activity."

I have expended almost two years in R&D to write Two National Preventive Health Research Programmes which are exceedingly detailed because you have to line up all the ducks when dealing with government.  I believe that I am close to influencing the recently announced NPA's  Board of Governance to adopting both of them, but it is slow going when dealing with bureaucrats and committees, and waiting for legislation to pass thru parliament.

Yours sincerely
