BeanCounter's fleeting rap-up of
Tour de Windsor via Sackville ferry - 101km
- 4 cyclists
Alas, in attempting to
hold the fort in Scribe's absence, Pimpernel may have gotten a
tad shell shocked with all the recent rain, 'cause last Sunday at Sparrow Fart when he peaked
out from under the covers 'twas looking powerful gloomy from his Inner West dig's at
Stanmore. Not having heard from anybody, Rex sunk back into his
bunker.
Around 8:30am Rex fielded
the customary call from BeanCounter, "Where are you?"
Below is BeanCounter's
rap-up for a minimum of a hundred click hit-out also involving
Pacific Pete, HongKong David, TugBoat:
"The forecast of
"Brief morning shower, clearing afterwards" proved on the money.
Andrew aka Tugboat
rode from Hornsby taking care on his descent of The Gorge
Pacific Pete
and
HongKong David drove to the designated Dural start point.
BeanCounter
rode to the start from his West Pennant hills digs and the 3 Dural
contingent met Andrew at Mid Dural Road as planned.
With lightish traffic
and a flattish run, we made good time to the Sackville turnoff. The
river was up from recent rains and everything was green and lush, except
the river which was brown.
As from the start, we
stayed as a motley peleton to Windsor where we enjoyed a well earned
feed and caffeine recharge.
With smaller crowds
than normal, the pit crew were quick and we were soon back on our way to
Pitt Town Road for the grind back to Kenthurst.
With the sun breaking
out at last, we were passed the opposite way by vintage cars and bikes,
complete with the old style helmets and goggles.
Returning to our
respective starting points, we ticked over a minimum of 95 clicks and
enjoyed a good hit out notwithstanding a few rusty legs due to a batch
of recent wet w'ends.
Just proves that if
you don’t risk the weather from time to time, you won’t be rewarded with
a top day's cycling.”
