Economic Materialism means a person or group choosing to spend their resources, particularly money and time, to acquire lavish material goods which signify wealth, luxury and status.  Material goods may include, but are not limited to, a large home, the number of bathrooms, holiday home, SUVs, motor homes, boats, plasma TV, home entertainment system, IPODs etc.  Invariably a close correlation exists between Economic Materialism and high GHG emissions as measured by Carbon Footprint.
