Two other successful sporting activities
demonstrate that with a thorough business plan and an impressive, collegiate website, the Annual KOM Challenge Series can fill a void for
the burgeoning middle aged group seeking a healthy, competitive challenge Annual Ocean Swims such as the Manly Cole Classic and Palm Beach to Whale Beach "Big Swim" have been conducted for over 30 years. The Event Organiser has completed about 15 ocean and harbour swims, which each attract a few thousand swimmers. The advent of a collegiate website www.OceanSwims.com, coupled with a recently increased adult interest in getting/remaining fit, has evidenced a material increase in middle aged swimmers. Casual empiricism suggests that the number of swimmers in all Australian ocean swims annually has doubled in the last 6 years, primarily due to www.OceanSwims.com. CoolRunning.com.au has similarly encouraged running. The Australian MTB 24 Hour Championships attract thousands of mountain bike enthusiasts to assemble in Kowen Forest Canberra each October, to either ride solo or in teams of up to 4, for 24 hours. On some occasions the night of the event has been freezing, but it still doesn't deter thousands wanting to participate each October. This event has grown quickly due to effective website promotion and because more and more people crave fitness requiring a challenge, and enjoy cycling. Mountain biking in the USA and Australia has progressed enormously amongst younger people due to the availability of appealing competition in a collegiate environment. Older folk are less attracted to mountain biking because their "reaction times" have waned a tad in a sport requiring a lot of technical talent. Hence, a market niche exists to establish successful road cycling competition provided the business plan is robust, with an impressive/innovative website. |
