Section 6        "King of the Mountain Performance Measurement" website

4 years ago the Event Organiser/Business Plan Developer, Phil Johnston -

(a)       travelled the length and breadth of Greater Sydney and Illawarra and climbed almost 60 marvellous KOM Climbs, taking various jpgs of the KOM Start and KOM Apex, as well as KOM Climb distance and altitude details;

(b)       assembled a database of 63 difficult road Climbs between 3km and 10.5km in distance located on the perimeter of Greater Sydney/Illawarra which is a particularly hilly region; and

(c)       using that data, the Event Organiser built "King of the Mountain Performance Measurement".

The website -

1.        provides data (Climb distance, altitude at KOM Start and KOM Apex, gradient, altitude graphs, route maps, route descriptions, photos of Start, KOM Apex Finish and panoramic vistas) for 63 marvellous, difficult King of the Mountain Climbs across 9 Climb Regions located on the perimeter of Greater Sydney/Illawarra.

2.        enables ardent hill Climbers to:

 (i)        Register as a Climber

 (ii)       Register their local ride group as a Climb Team;

 (iii)      Ride individual time-trials up 63 different KOM Climbs;

 (iv)      Log their Climb Times for 63 Climbs in the Nth, West and Sth of Sydney, plus Gold Coast Hinterland;

 (v)       Compare (their individual Climb Times and Team Climb Times) against other Climbers and other Climb Teams.

3.        costs $20,000 circa to complete and is testimony to the Event Team Organiser's passion to encourage people of all ages, Abled, Disabled and Disadvantaged, to enjoy safe, healthy exercise in scenic, rural settings:

           *        View of descent down Saddleback Mountain in Kiama.
