Samurai's rap-up of "St Ives to Whale Beach, returning via Akuna Bay" -  90km  -  10 crew

ToothFairy, Tornado, Printer, Vicki and Samurai departed St. Ives on a brisk, sunny Sunday morn'.  On route after 6.5km at the FruitBarn we picked-up Rummager, Yamaha and Lindy (on Pete's tandem).  At the Church Point Sag Stop, PacificPete, BeanCounter and Engineer joined the entourage.  BeanCounter and Engineer peeled-off at Cabbage Tree Rd and Tornado left us at the Darley Rd turnoff.  The rest of us cruised onto Whale Beach Cafe.

It was a picture perfect Winter's day at Whale Beach, with beautiful blue skies, a light sea breeze and marvelous Winter surf conditions, albeit none of us stuck our toe in the briny to prove that hypothesis.  Coffees and brunch all round, whereupon after retracing back down the coast road to Mona vale, ToothFairy and PacificPete climbed straight back up McCarrs Creek Rd.  Yamaha and Lindy didn't have time to stop and socialise and rode straight past McCarrs Creek bridge.

Not in any hurry, Printer, Rummager, Vicki and Samurai turned right at the bridge and headed to Akuna Bay to enjoy a delightful repast listening to the Jazz band under a warming mid-Winter sunshine.  30 mins later we re-mounted and continued anti-clockwise passing Illawong Bay, Cottage Point Rd on a familiar climb up to Mona Vale Rd and back to St Ives, where we partook of for more coffees 'n cakes at Pattisons Patisserie.  It was a particularly enjoyable day indeed.

Bank Teller reports from Nevada that lots more women cycle in the USA as evidenced from his jpgs taken at last Sunday's Donner Lake triathlon, and the same triathlon he rode the 40km hilly cycle leg in 2003
