Credit card eligibility

• aged 18 years or over
• a permanent Australian resident
• have a regular permanent income
• don't have an active credit card application that has already been conditionally approved

Information you need to provide

• contact information including email and residential address
• for new to bank customers, at least 2 forms of the following identification: Driver's Licence, Medicare Card, Passport, Australian Birth Certificate (learn more about electronic ID check)
• accurate and current financial details including: income, expenses and assets (e.g., value of owned properties, vehicles, savings)

Documents you need to provide

• Proof of income

  In order for us to verify your income you’ll need to send in copies of your income documents. Your current employment circumstances will dictate which documents are required:

  Do you work for an employer? i.e. Pay As You Go (PAYG)

  • 2 of your most recent payslips which must be no more than 45 days old
  • if you are new to Bankwest, you will also need to supply 3 months of your most recent consecutive bank statements showing salary credits. Statements must show:
    • account holder name
    • financial institution name
    • BSB & account number
    • transaction history
    • most recent salary credit to be within 45 days from the date of application
  • if you are an existing Bankwest customer with at least 3 months salary history in your Bankwest account, you may not be required to send in payslips

  Do you own your own business or subcontract? i.e. Self employed

  • 2 most recent Notice of Assessments from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), showing your earnings for these financial years. Must be no more than 18 months old from the application submission date

  Do you receive other income?

  • Self-managed superannuation fund - your personal tax return from the last financial year. Must be no more than 18 months old from the application submission date
  • Managed superannuation fund - your most recent statement of your superannuation balance including evidence of regular payments
  • Pension - your most recent pension statement showing current payments
  • Rental income - a signed rental tenancy agreement, or a monthly rental income statement from your managing agent. Note the rental tenancy agreement must not have expired

• Are you refinancing debt from another financial institution?

  If you are refinancing debt(s) from another financial institution you must also provide:

  • 3 months of your most recent consecutive bank statements for each debt being consolidated, printouts from your online banking can be accepted. Statements must show the following details:
    • account holder name 
    • financial institution name
    • BSB & account number
    • transaction history
    • no older than 45 days

What happens after you've applied?

• you will receive an instant online response with the outcome of your application
• if you are conditionally approved we will contact you via email to request documents to support your application such as: proof of income, financial statements
• once we receive your documents we will validate your application. Should we require more information we will contact you
