^{The most recent data on the Australian population’s LLN skills comes from the Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey (ALLS), conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in 2006. This was the second survey of its type in Australia. The first was the 1996 Survey of Aspects of Literacy (SAL), also conducted by the ABS. The ALLS was part of a wider international study undertaken by Statistics Canada and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
