Professor Garry Jennings is director of Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute. Professor Jennings is a board member of Research Australia, the National Heart Foundation and chair of the peak committee overseeing research and cardiovascular health programs. He is chair of Nucleus Network, a comprehensive clinical trials facility and is a former president of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia.

Professor Jennings has been director of the Baker Heart Research Institute, Australia’s premier cardiovascular research facility, since 2001. A clinical cardiologist and academic Professor Jennings has published over 350 research papers and is well known for seminal research on exercise mechanisms in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, pathophysiology and treatment strategies for hypertension, and the neurobiology of heart failure.

Professor Jennings is president of the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes; Cardiovascular and Respiratory Co-Director for Bayside Health, which includes The Alfred Hospital; and is a professor of medicine at Monash University. He was a principal investigator of the Second Australian National Blood Pressure Study (ANBP2) and chaired the Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH) sub studies for both ANBP2 and for the ONTARGET/TRANSCEND clinical trial programs.
