Carbon Footprint means measuring in units of carbon dioxide one's own carbon footprint (ie. a representation of the effect you have on the climate in terms of the total amount of greenhouse gases that you produce).  The same measurement technique can measure one's employer's Carbon Footprint, but obviously it is a much larger task depending on the size of one's employer.

Many of a human's actions generate carbon emissions, which contribute to accelerating Global Warming/Climate Change.

By measuring one's own carbon footprint, one can get a better sense of what our individual impact is and which parts of our lifestyle warrants the greatest attention.  Armed with such information you can more readily take effective action to reduce your carbon footprint, thereby minimizing your personal impact on the climate.

For example, when you drive a car, each litre of petrol you burn produces carbon in the form of carbon dioxide that is emitted into the atmosphere depending on the fuel efficiency of your vehicle and how far you drive.

Almost everything you do affects it: turning on a dish washer, driving a car, buying food, taking a ride on a passenger jet.

Every American is responsible for about 22 tons of GHGs every year, according to statistics compiled by the United Nations; far above the world average of 6 tons per capita.

The internet provides rudimentary tools to measure your Carbon Footprint:
