Scribe's rap-up of Sat 11 June Tour de Royal National Park - 11
starters - 95km
Unsure why, but the Waratah Park
carpark was chockers last Sat morn'. Perhaps the car owners
were all in swimming at the Sutherland Pool complex or on push bikes, 'cause we
saw some big Peloton bunches, albeit not in the park. After 44km we
pulled-in at the Stanwell Park cafe, except Ange 'n Pete.
Pete aka Gobbler, Ange, Firey, Koala Bear, Bank
Teller, Samurai, Brenda aka Widget, Pete aka Rummager, Moots
'n Kaza
After this Nosh Stop, Gene and Phil, who had chores a beckoning, high-tailed it back
to the carpark to complete a 75km hit-out. The remainder, incl Pete 'n Ange,
visited Gyrie and Bundenna Beaches and got dumped-on big time at Bundenna.
Bank Teller's rap-up of
Sunday 13 June, Tour de Richmond Lowlands - 89km - 11
It's never too late to teach an old dog new
tricks. Today, Bank Teller had to learn heaps of new
'smarts' pronto, 'cause he performed the Pilot role on Lindy's
inaugural outing with Muggs. Lindy has represented Australia a
few times in disabled Olympics in various parts of the world, as Lindy
doesn't see that well. But she sure didn't take long to twig
that her latest Pilot was in need of a few tips on how to start and
not to wobble, not to mention
teaching him to stop crunching big gears, and spin in lower chain-rings.
Bank Teller also had to contend with a
racing gear ratios with 39 / 23 being Lindy's lowest gear. Fortunately, today's
ride is perhaps the flattest ride in Muggs' calendar, 'cause whilst a
tandem goes real fast on a big downhill 'n can power along the flats, they
still die on the hills.
Things didn't get off to a
flash start 'cause when Bank Teller was adjusting his seat height on
Lindy's tandem pre-ride at the edge of the M2, he snapped a M6 screw.
Fortunately, two mechanics Yamaha and Gene (RHS) were nearby and quickly
leant how to not only remove the snapped fragments, but also identify a
spare screw on Yamaha's bike that could be used to platform Scribe's
bum. |

Samurai,
Lindy 'n Paul on the train to Windsor after 22km leg along the M2 where we could
have caught the 9:10am, instead of waiting for the scheduled 9:29am, 'cause for
once the peloton didn't have to wait for Bank Teller.
