ETR Turramurra station 2:50pm. Bank Teller's rap-up of last Sunday, 20 Feb - "St Ives, Palm Beach, Wagstaffe Wharf, McMasters Beach, Lisarow train to Brooklyn" - 111km incl a ferry ride to Lower Central Coast and a Choo Choo from Lisarow to Brooklyn
Twas a damp, gloomy 7am start for our lean contingent of 4 starters (ToothFairy, Scribe, Koala Bear and ExPat) who got hit with a solid shower for 3 mins descending McCarrs Creek. Whereupon the rain cleared to a dry day with afternoon sunshine. By remaining on the main beach road to Palm Beach Wharf we cut 13 mins off the ride in plenty of time to buy coffees and shoot the breeze with a 62 year old local who'd already swam 3km earlier that morn'. Our new route from Wagstaffe Wharf to Lisarow proved a veritable "winner" being low traffic, scenic and challenging, with lots of shitty roller coaster climbs. As you approach Lisarow station there is a 950m ball terror up Paroo Rd with ExPat easily winning the impromptu KOM Climb. Shortly thereafter we arrived at Lisarow station in time to dart across the street to a mall which included a Subway food chain which we all availed prior to aboarding the scheduled train to Hawkesbury River station. Upon alighting the train at Hawkesbury River, Bank Teller 'n Koala Bear tussled over the 3.85km KOM Climb to PitS, with Bank Teller winning. But The Teller blew-up shortly thereafter on the final leg back to St Ives, And heard later that Koala Bear was full of fire on Expat's tail all the way back to Hornsby. A few hours later the skies re-opened big time.
