Shaw's Creek" bridge Whippet 'n Navigator joined us at the entrance to the M2 and from Seven Hills station, they raced our train to Windsor, and might have won.
Four hearty troopers in above snap. Why? 'cause they'd just pigged-out at the Old Post Office Cafe Springwood. Tornado and Grommet were filling water bottles.
Gene had the bright idea of adding 26 clicks to our ride by cycling the scheduled train leg from Emu Plains to Blacktown. So after taking in a glorious 3.2km descent along Mitchells Pass we hooked onto the M4 followed by the M2. One slight problem. Good buddy Gene held back to tow a flagging Scribe along. Whereupon we lost sight of the lead bunch of Grommet, Tornado, Curmudgeon 'n PapaBear. The day warmed-up a tad during the leg from Springwood. And KoalaBear and Scribe were feeling powerful parched as they soldiered on glancing at every potential cafe or grub stop hoping like hell our loyal lead bunch would wave 'em into a cafe that they'd snared. Alas, 'twasn't to be. Fortunately, Curmudgeon 'phoned Scribe as they approached Abbott Rd/Johnson Ave lights to let him know that they'd taken a Pit Stop yonks back before the M4 had finished. Scribe retorted, "Oh no that couldn't be, 'cause my loyal buddies wouldn't be so selfish as to not alert their loyal buddies behind of the selected Pit Stop. Not in this heat. Not after such a long slog." Curmudgeon was on his first Muggs' ride, and Scribe thinks he may have successfully "taken a lend of him". If Scribe had tried it on Grommet, Tornado or PapaBear, he wouldn't 've got any sympathy. They were just pleased to be enjoying A/C comfort at a McChucks, and to hell with the turkeys behind. Scribe must've been pregnant, 'cause by that stage with his tongue hanging out and his sugar levels in the red, he'd developed a craving for a McChucks strawberry thick-shake. So Gene faithfully led him in pursuit of his yearning which bolstered his levels enough to stop his whinging 'n whaling long enough to plod back to Turra' with 117km all done.
Bank Teller has logged the above KOM Climb Times in www.KOMpm.com and registered PapaBear, Grommet and Curmudgeon as Climbers.
