Bank
Teller's rap-up of Cinque Montagnes - 94km - 5 KOM Climbs - 14
crew
|
LHS pic - Elfi pre-ride outside the
Corner Store, Nth Turra'.
Scribe had
scheduled the 7:30am latish start thinkin' that Day-Light-Savings had
kicked-in the night before, 'cause it always starts on the w'end of his b'day.
So upon Bank Teller's arrival at 'effectively' 6:30am and
whereupon finding no-one present, he enquired of an old dude reading the paper
on his porch, who said,
"Buddy, you are a week early."
14
or so happy souls participated in Cinque Montagnes, incl
Whippet, Ange/Gobbler, Samurai, Tornado, Kaza, Bank Teller, ToothFairy, Koala
Bear, Greg 'n Printer.
We tagged up with another similarly
committed bunch of Sunday hill climbers incl Elfi left of screen, dutiful hubby,
Flash, Smiling Assassin, Frank aka Expat who joined a
Muggs' Sat ride a few weeks ago, 'n Katrina whose been on assignment down in
Kiama (for a few mths) which boosts some of the best KOM Climbs in the 13 Illawarra KOM Climbs
Region, namely Saddleback Mtn from both Saddleback Mtn Rd and Fountaindale Rd,
the latter being a veritable ball-terror.
But well worth it, cause
the panoramic view of the magnetic attraction of the Blue Pacific
off Kiama,
when descending Saddleback Mtn is the best. Awesome.
Nothing beats it.
|
2 above 'n 2 below pics are from popular
Grumpy's cafe, Nth Galston. Why is it so popular? Cause the
proprietar, don't take
no crap from nobody. And that kinder sits
comfortably with cyclists, who not only talk it, but walk it.
|
LHS - Kaza,
Greg, Printer ' n the best side of Tornado on the Berowra
Waters punt.
We got "misted on"
a tad after leaving Grumpy's. But we was
having fun, so after arriving at the familiar Old Pacific H'way traffic
lights after 47km, we Hooked a Left Nth to the Hawkesbury River,
for our 3rd KOM Climb. Whereupon up
at PitS, Bank Teller showed us how, as a sicko
school kid back in the mid-60s, he caught blow-flies 'en did nasty things to 'em.
Below pic, aided by a
plank, reveals a good angle of Samurai. But down twds the end of
the array of this week's Kodak Eastman happy snaps, is the optimum angle of Samurai,
aided by a pair of buns.
|
Above 'n below pics from
PitS where
Bank Teller snavelled a few blowies and slipped 'em into a Coke bot (ya had to be there to
believe it), 'n rec'd yet another rendition of "Happy B'day to you"
to commemorate the start of the Old Fart's 53 recognition of his
prosthesis into terra firma.
Samurai's best
angle - a Pulitzer prize winning pic, 'cause of 'capturing on film a pair of buns, and not for the buns centre screen.
Shootin' the breeze
post ride at the Corner Store cafe, Nth St Ives. Cinque
Montagnes, one of Muggs' oldest rides, offers 5 KOM Climbs to log times on
www.KOMpm.com. Importantly, it offers
heaps of cafes, and we patronised 'em all.
