Weekend, 12/13 March, "Loop the Lake" Macquarie:
*      Drive from Sydney 10am Sat and check into Wangi Wangi Hotel

*      40km loosener on Sat arvo;

*      pissy dinner that night;
*      85km "loop" on Sun morn'

Loop Lake Macquarie anti-clockwise 85km. Charity fundraiser which attracts about 400 cyclists. Morning tea provided at Morisset, fruit at Blacksmiths and a free BBQ lunch at Speers Point Park.  Entry is $35 "pay on the day", with all proceeds to John Hunter Children's Hospital. Over the past 5 years $190,000 has been raised.

Muggs has traditionally attracted a contingent for this w'end of cycling and revelry on an idyllic lake.  Over the years we've has stayed at different locations on Lake Macq -  Warners' Bay Tavern, Wangi Wangi Hotel and camped at Lake Macquarie Village Caravan Park.

Wangi Wangi is the bestest.  The hotel fronts the water in a serene township just off the expressway near Morisset .  "Miss Joy" (02) 4975.1411 informs that all ten of the pub's rooms are vacant:
         5 twins, 1 jumbo room with 4 singles, and 4 double rooms.  $40 per double or twin with $10 extra pe head in the jumbo. 

Drive nth from Wahroonga on Sydney-Newcastle freeway.  Take Morisset off-road along Wyee Rd.  After 2½km turn Right into Dora St which changes over the ensuing 9km to Macquarie St, then Warmsley St and finally Wangi Rd.  

By 6:50am Sunday drive 20km NE to Speers Point for 8am start for 85km “Loop the Lake”.
