"Nosh Night" from 7:30pm this Friday, 10 Jan, at Pino's Italiano Restauranté  Crows Nest to "Valete" Dieter & Helga

Two Sunday pedal pushing stalwarts, Dieter & Helga, are expating to Singapore in mid-Jan, as Mr Fixit has negotiated a 3 year contract with his company, Phillips.

Notwithstanding the 11th hour notice, join cycling aficionados from 7:30pm at Pino's Italiano Restaurante  49 Willoughby Rd Crows Nest [9439.2866 ph] (BYO Wine & Beer) to bade farewell to Blonde Bombshell and her loyal cycling compatriot, Dieter.  Set menu for $25 p/h.  However, you can opt for a la carte, so long as you settle-up directly with the waiter.  Corkage for BYO wine and beer is $1 per head.  With a $2 tip per capita, the all-up bill for the 'set menu' is $28.  Scribe is bringing half a dozen chilled home brews for anyone to slurp who is  powerful parched.

Why such short notice?  'Cause Dieter only told Scribe latish Tues night that he and Helga could manage this Friday evening from their frenetic schedule to get all the ducks in a row in order to fly out mid-month.

e-mail johnstp@tpg.com.au or 'phone him 9312.3319 if you are >50% attendee.  If you know anyone who is lonely, bring 'em along, 'cause Dieter ain't got many friends!  And some of 'em are doing the Tasmania Ride commencing the following morn'.

Scribe 's rap-up of Sunday, St Ives to Warriewood - 94km
A dozen crew participated in today's more typical Summer ride with traditional high humidity and heaps of pace on.  Alas, we lost Starbucks at West Head when Matt took the final dog-leg 'Right' a smidgen too quickly and peeled-off on the LHS.  Fortunately, Matt's injuries were minor even though he was doing 30+ clicks after the final steepish descent when Starbucks lost the final corner.  But his hip-pocket will take a hit this week as all that can be salvaged from his pricey mangled front wheel is the hub.

A tad after 10am with 68km 'all done' we arrived at Warriewood Beach where the below pick shows most of the gang at The Sunrise Café.  Although the further 'belower' pick evidences Pacific, ToothFairy and Kitchen Sink settling-in at The Nautilus Café.

Ain't that a triumvirate of rough angled noggins on the RHS in the above pic.

Not unsurprisingly, ToothFairy has a piece of plastic hanging out the side of her head, and is talking shop into another obscure piece of cable - together representing the ubiquitous, omnipresent quintessential cellular phone which ToothFairy is able to monitor the rehab of her patients whilst sloggin', or in this instance squawkin', with the rest of the team.

A shade after midday following sorties thru Wakehurst Parkway, Forest Way and Mona Vale Rd, we returned to Pattisons' Patisserie with 94km on the dial.  Whippet won the final 6.6km sprint back to St Ives with Sputnik on his tail.  However, judging by the manner that Sergey had gained ground over the last few clicks into St Ives, it seemed that Sputnik could have eclipsed Brian if there had been money on.  Kitchen Sink seemed to fade on the 5.6km leg along Forest Way and back to St Ives.   But he'd cycled from his digs at Dural whilst most of us were still doing zees, and was cycling back home after we returned to St Ives.  Anyone who'd chased Ray up Thunderbolts Way last August would not underestimate his endurance.  See more pics at:
