Bank Teller's rap-up of Sunday, 1 Sept, Brooklyn Pier 'n back - 82km, 5 starters

For the 3rd week on the trot, Sat has been a corker 'n Sunday a dog.  This morn' was another shocker with overcast, fast moven' skies - you guessed it, a force 10 gale comin' from the South Pole.  But somehow thankfully it remained "mostly dry".

With 5 Muggs soaken up the sun, cycling in the Bicycle Qld "Bundaburg to Brisbane" ride, Whippet in the ski-fields, Sputnik in Russia, Widget with her noggin' hidden under the covers, and Darren at home doing squaw chores, we only attracted 5 crew from Turra', with Ray joining us approaching Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Pier around 10:40am, after 41 clicks via Bobbin Head where a strong tailwind assisted the Pac H'way leg Nth.  L to R Malvern Star, Princess of Monaco, Papa Bear (in senior statesman form), Smiling Assassin, Catherine and BigGearsThe Flash and Kiwi are shooten the breeze back left. Teller was holding the picture machine.

40 mins later after a slog into the wind to a forlorn PitSL to R The Flash, PapaBear (showing his best side), Caroline, Ray, Malvern Star, 'n BigGears.

Around 1:30pm, after Caroline had peeled-off at Berowra, four tuckered-out troops, soldiered back to Turra' mostly dry with 82.6km under the belt.

Kiwi won the "most improved" after seconding -

  • Rolf to fix her front derailleur (so the her chain would stop coming off), and

  • Siggy to adjust her rear derailleur (so it worked properly for the first time since she bought the bike).

A merit award goes to BigGears for carrying Julie's Black Mac up a couple of hill, which Kiwi has promised to jettison from her cycle kit-bag, just as soon as her brand spankers, schmickers Ground Effects fluro yellow jacket arrives from the-other-side-of-the-ditch.
