50m later L at lights into Kissing Point Rd and commence
step descent shortly crossing Comenarra Parkway at lights and proceed
to end of Kissing Point Rd. Take
R fork onto cycleway path to Browns Water Hole

turns, causeway may flood)
followed by a short steep climb to M2.
We pass through a narrow 20m tunnel and Sag Stop (3 mins) before

heading N beside the railway line until Quakers Hill station where,
after we reach the Give Way sign, L, then a R and R

Parkway. A few hundred metres on, L onto Hambledon Rd. Soon L again onto Walker Street (through
housing estate) at "T"
junction L onto Burdekin Rd and follow this around - it
becomes Railway Terrace. Follow
railway line to Schofields and continue to Riverstone along Railway Tce. |
At
Riverstone station do a quick R and L and follow the railway
line on your LHS. Riverstone Parade
will take us to Vineyard Station. (Clear land on the
left used to be Riverstone abattoirs.)
At Vineyard station road veers to the R.
Take Wallace Rd - the first street immediately to your L. |
Follow
the railway along and Wallace Rd will end at a "T"
intersection. Cycle over a
level railway crossing on your L, and take Railway Rd first on your

rap-up of Sunday, 7 July, Quatre Montagnes anti-clockwise
- only 76km, but 4 killer climbs
10
crew, albeit all males, rolled out of Turra' on an unseasonably warm, sparklin'
blue Winter's morn' - only a minute late, thanks to Bazza
rankling that "8:30am is too late". Even Publican
arrived on time. After our customary 3.2km hammer up to Kalkari, 'twas Nth
up the Pac H'way for 7.9km where we hooked a L into Berowra Waters
Rd. Alas, we lost Sputnik somewhere just afterwards, seemingly at
the 2nd roundabout where we turned R heading Nth twds Berowra
Waters. At Berowra Waters Café amidst brill
sunshine at our agreeable waterside alcove we caught up with Dieter and
Helga who'd recently returned from 4½ weeks holidaying in central Europe, incl
some tough days pedaling.
Tandem,
a contemplative Bazza, Blonde Bombshell and Dieter soaking up the
sun at Berowra Waters
After
a longish Nosh (hoping that Sergey would find us),
we beat up the 3.4km incline along Bay Rd to Koppers Log, where
fortuitously BigGears convened a fleeting Sag allowing Teller,
Publican and Tornado's mate, Garry to catch up.
Whippet,
Tornado, Navigator 'n BigGears at Koppers Log KOM
Then it was SW
along Bay Rd/Arcadia Rd to the "Galston Rd roundabout" for
a L, then 1.1km to the R to descend the Gorge. After a
keenly contested 3.2km slog up to Hornsby Heights, we took a welcome Sag Stop
at the familiar "resuscitation tent" [Bus Shelter] after 53km. Thence it was back to Turra' via
Bobbin Head arriving earlish at 1:10pm after 76km. The speed merchants of Tornado,
BigGears, Whippet 'n Navigator would 've averaged 23/25km, with Publican
'n Teller last home @ 21.5km - but there had been 4 hills to slow us up.
NB: With Sputnik AWOL from Berowra onwards, so too was our digital toy, but
by chance Andy Price, who hadn't ridden with Muggs for a couple of
years, had brought along another new fangled camera, and sent thru
the above 2 pics via cyber pigeon.
