1st Legs: to Brooklyn Pier

From Turra' - 41.5km
Arrive Turramurra car park [N/E side of station] by 8:20am for 8:30am departure in/out of Bobbin Head, arriving at Kalkari Reserve after 13.3km from 9am for 1st Sag Stop (10 min). Around 9:25am, after passing Asquith Golf Course on LHS, take a R into Belmont Pde and a R at the lights onto the Pac H'way and pedal Nth to the Hawkesbury.

From Hornsby - 26km
Arrive at Hornsby car-park [75m N/W of Railway Hotel in Jersey St] from 9am to roll at 9:10am and cycle 600m N up Jersey St, taking a L and R at lights onto Old Pacific Highway for the 26km route to Brooklyn Pier.

From Berowra - 13km
The convoy passes Berowra station around 9:40am, but don’t wait for us.  Rather we’ll catch you or see you at The Red Herring on the Pier.

After Brunch on the Pier, we return from 10:50am, with a helter skelter sprint back to Pie in the Sky where the KOM will be fiercely contested, even though "it is not a race", arriving at the scenic grassy knoll shortly after 11:15am for a 2nd Nosh Stop (20 min) on Segafredo [8½ out of 10] and Maggot Sacks with real meat.

Bank Teller’s rap-up of Sunday, 23 June, Somersby Peats Ridge, Mt White loop - 125km - 12 starters
Brrrrr!  Golly gosh! Must've been the coldest morn' since the weather bureau commenced records.  From their Berowra alternate start spot, Scribe, Pacific 'n ToothFairy picked-up, and shortly got passed by, the jet-propelled Peloton which had rolled out of Hornsby at 7:55am.  And 25 mins into today's route, it was still brass monkey stuff.  Brenda reckoned it'd been 7o at Hornsby, but that couldn't be right, 'cause 7o is only just above the due point.  Low 'n behold, as the Peloton whizzed by, Sputnik, somewhere twds the front, was in a short sleeve jersey, short gloves with no legins or arm warmers.  They breed 'em tough back in St Petersburg where Sergey left 6 weeks ago.

A first for Muggs with everyone looking at the dickey bird, and some even standing to attention.  L to R - Rocket, Andy, Whippet, Neon Lights, Scribe, Publican, Dicky Knee, Widget, Navigator, BigGears, Sputnik 'n ToothFairy

How a pic can lie, 'cause you could think it was a barmy morn' at Mt White, but there wasn't any heat in that sun.  With ToothFairy in the contingent, the time schedule never slips.  However, a surprising number of Muggs fell into the trap of ordering the worst coffee in Sydney from the slowest servers.  Hence, the Three Wise Men - Bank Teller, Neon Lights n' ToothFairy (make that two chaps an a lady) had settled into their burgers at our 2nd Nosh Stop of Somersby when the remainder from The Bikie Hangout eventually arrived after 60km and reputedly a record 60 min Nosh Stop at Mt White.

Perhaps their was a tad more solar energy emanating from the sun into the courtyard at Somersby General Store around 11:15am.  Is Pacific taking a regulation chomp into his burger?

After giving the Bikie Hangout short-shift on our return route, at 2pm we arrived at PitS.  Twasn't exactly warm, however, after 106 clicks at a gangbuster pace, finished off with that familiar 3.9km scurry up from Brooklyn Rd, we'd circulated enough red corpuscles for our lemons to appear compos mentis.  At 3:20pm, the stoic 'n diehards, who'd lasted the entire 125km distance returned to Hornsby, after one of the coldest ride days ever.  Fortunately our next 5 @ Sunday rides don't commence 'till 8:30am, but 3 of 'em have starts from Turra' with that dreaded decent into Bobbin Head.

Retraction - Apology
Muggs' Home Page lists about a dozen sub-folders, including Press Clippings which features reviews by Australian Cyclist Magazine and Sydney Morning Herald's "Icon" of Muggs' website.  The former review comments, inter alia, that The Scribe is notorious for not allowing the facts to stand in the way of a good yarn.  Well, Scribe over-stepped the mark in last week's Bullsheet when, in an effort to instill some humour into an otherwise bland post-ride rap-up, he neglected to point out a salient point.

When he took-the-piss-out-of Publican for not opting not to alight our cozy train at Brooklyn (during our return from Wyong) and cycle back to Hornsby, Scribe neglected to mention that our train was an Express which didn't, in fact, stop at Hawkesbury River station.

Scribe regrets unreservedly if he besmirched or sullied Tony's good name and fine character, due to Scribe's faux pas in talking with forked tongue.  But it brought a chuckle!  And nobody reads stuff if it ain't funny.
