After a 3.6km customary climb, around 11am we take a 5th Sag Stop (10 min) [66.3km from Turra’ or 47.4km from Hornsby) at the familiar "closed/abandoned" Health Food Store, now a "Pool Shop", before re-entering the Old Pacific H'way by taking a R from Berowra Waters Rd. and cycling S:* to Hornsby - ETR 11:15am - 59.2km; or* turning L at entrance to Bobbin Head for Turramurra - ETR 12:20pm – 93.2km. Please note:
Bank Teller's rap-up of Sunday, 17 March, Brunch at WarriewoodOn positively the hottest late March day ever, about 10 cyclists gathered at St Ives in time to rollout at 7:20am. We met up with Tornado, aka Trevor Cupitt, and Pacific Pete at the Fruit Barn and headed twds Terrey Hills.
After a whirlwind out 'n back to Duffy's Forest, Whippet pulled us up short of our designated Sag Stop just shy of Terrey Hills shops. With it getting warmer, and the air already as Dry as a Dead Dingo's Donger, a "snipping group" raided the nearby abode to siphon the garden hose. Bazza and Tornado Trev did the stealin' bit, whilst Widget kept watch.
A professional photographer wouldn't be impressed with the above pic, what will all the shadows, squinting' 'n bobbin' down to get in the pic, but it was a cooler spot under the gums at West Head. We met PapaBear aka Mr Elastoplast the Red Juggernaut, with 8 @ 200km Audax Alpine Classics to his credit, at McCarrs Creek, who confessed that his first Loop the Lake on the previous w'end, had proven to be tougher than he'd expected. Can't recall whether the above pic was taken early or late in our marathon Nosh Stop at Bayview Marina around 9:30am. However, with the weather approaching 30o, no one was in any hurry to head back.
See, there is a friendly side to The Publican, as Annie found out when she feed him a Scrumptious Smoothie. How do we know how it tasted? Well, Tony wasn't the only one who indulged in one of the Marina's bestest Treats 'n Sweets. By 1pm we'd all rolled back
into St Ives after 83km, slightly knackered from a scorcher. Whippet, who'd
changed four flats, incl two of his own, proved invaluable. Just ask Widget
'n Publican who'd snagged the other two punctures.
