Day 2  -  Col du Mollard, return Fontcouverte la Toussuire  -  38.63km loop

Start from our 1st Base Camp of Saint Jean de Maurienne (el. 543m) and climb 16.93km to Le Col du Mollard (el. 1,639m) - ascending 1,096m vert. metres, ave 6.47% - max 8.1%.  From Saint Jean de Maurienne a steady climb for the first few km, weaving up the valley.  Then hairpins through the trees for a few km and a while before you reach the tree line.  Some steepish sections to keep the interest.  Attractive climb through a forest opening onto alpine fields with good views.

Starting point : Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, at the roundabout "Fontaine" (between the "Hôtel de l'Europe" and the roundabout "Opinel").  Finish : Mollard Pass.  Difference in altitude : 1150 m.  Distance : 22 km.
