Number of Homicides annually or Annual Homicide Rates Homicide is the killing of one person by another. A lot of homicides are due to manslaughter, particularly car accidents where a driver's negligence results in the death of another person. If a person is charged with murder or manslaughter, but dies before a court hearing and judgement, that person who was killed is not included in the number of homicide statistics, because no one has been convicted of murder or manslaughter.
