Restorative Justice Practices in Scandinavia, Northern Italy and Texas to Improve Outcomes Due To Economic Necessity
Incarceration Practices based on the Restorative Justice Model Successfully Adopted in Scandinavia since the late 20th century detail the success of a Restorative Justice approach in - 1. Norway and other Scandinavian countries; 2. Texas, USA; 3. San Patrignano, Italy; and 4. San Pedro prison - largest prison in La Paz, Bolivia - a prison with no locks. The mindset of both inmates and judges, fueled by Penal Populism, that "You must serve your time" has created the Baker's Dozen Unsustainable Problems Within Australian Prison System, similarly experienced in the USA, UK, Brazil, Canada et al. Captain Alexander Maconochie encountered judgmental antagonists of his 'soft' treatment of inmates during an era of vicious physical punishment - chronicled in Corporal Punishment previously sentenced in Australia. Doubtless, today, there are opponents of Four Gears of Early Rehabilitation and Release, particularly amongst proponents of Tough on Crime that have little understanding of Warehouse Sentencing in some western countries that has failed Dozenly. Rather are more engrossed in 'audience ratings' and the sound of their own voice.

However, it will reduce the

Costs of jail cells and
Capital
Expenditure Cost Of Building New or Modify/Extending
Existing Prisons. But the required increase in the
costs associated with 'caseworker'
Rehabilitation,
by adopting much of the below
Restorative Justice
practices, will offset 'jail cell' cost savings: * Texas Justice Reinvestment, in particular Improving Responses to People with Mental Illnesses with Specialist Drug & Alcohol Treatment

Italian drug users rehabilitation program in Italy
sets tone for new ‘life-changing’ centres in Australia;
and
Education and Vocational Training costs, to instill self-belief and optimism to expedite 'custodial release' into an employed job for a minimum of three months offered by Supportive ASX 200 Companies, will also increase.
The patent outcomes will be reduced criminal behaviour and ipso facto reduced recidivism rates, that will - A. demonstrably mitigate each of the Baker's Dozen Problems within State and Territory Corrective Services; and B. increase income tax coffers as more former inmates secure and retain regular employment.
Another significant up-side of Four Gears of Early Rehabilitation and Release is the reduced costs of the other two components of the Criminal Justice System, namely Police and Judicial Courts.
