ANZ - Balance transfers

If you have more than one credit card or store card, making repayments can be complicated. If you transfer the debit balances from your non-ANZ credit or store card accounts to an ANZ personal credit card account, you could get back in control and save money on interest so you could reduce your debt sooner1.

This offer is also available for existing ANZ cardholders.

ANZ balance transfer benefits:

  • you could save money on interest repayments
  • you could reduce the amount of fees you have to pay if you are paying fees across a number of credit and store cards
  • having one credit card and one repayment arrangement is easier than managing multiple card repayment arrangements
  • subject to approval, you can transfer debit balances from your non-ANZ credit or store card accounts onto any ANZ personal credit card account so you can find one that best suits your needs
  • to make it easier, we’ll help you sort out the transfers.

Balance transfer interest rates

You can find out the applicable balance transfer interest rate by clicking below on the ANZ Credit Card account to which you wish to transfer your balance. In certain cases, a promotional interest rate may apply (in which case that interest rate will be identified in the relevant promotional balance transfer offer).

Alternatively you can call one of our customer service consultants on 13 22 73.

Balance Transfer Fees

Balance transfers resulting from certain promotional balance transfer offers attract a one-off Balance Transfer Fee. The Balance Transfer Fee will be calculated as a percentage of the balance being transferred to your ANZ credit card account. Where such a fee is applicable, this will be identified in the terms and conditions relating to the promotional balance transfer offer.

A 1% Balance Transfer Fee is also applicable to all standard (i.e. non-promotional) balance transfers on an ANZ Balance Visa credit card account.

Balance transfers and interest free periods

If you have a credit card that offers interest free periods on purchases, you must generally pay the full Closing Balance shown on each statement of account (including the full outstanding amount of any balance transfer) by each applicable Due Date in order to continue getting the benefit of the interest free periods.

Things you should know

ANZ is able to accept balance transfers of $100 or more from certain non-ANZ accounts (for example, a credit, charge or store card account). ANZ is unable to accept a balance transfer:

  • from other ANZ accounts
  • from credit cards issued outside Australia
  • if the balance on your ANZ card has reached or exceeded 95% of the available credit limit balance
  • if you are in default on any existing ANZ credit card account
  • if the other account named in your application is in default at the time the application is received.

Please note: ANZ will not process a balance transfer to the extent that this would result in the total amount outstanding on your credit card account exceeding 95% of your credit limit (but may process so much of a balance transfer as would not result in the total amount outstanding on your credit card account exceeding the relevant amount).
