HI
PHIL, I am presently in Lake Charles, Louisiana, just got here today...I didn't
ride today [except in the van!] as was feeling poorly....a cold is lurking and
it was raining this morning, call me a woos if you like! I also sadly hurt my
leg about 2 weeks ago and had a few days off the bike then, when we were in the
Texas Hill Country which was absolutely beautiful....we started in San Diego
California on March 6 and will end in St Augustine Florida on April 30....now
it's well and truly flat from now on, not my favourite riding conditions as I
prefer the hills, like home....it's also really humid from now on....today marks
the 2000 mile point in the journey. 1000 more to go...it took us 20 days to
cross Texas which includes rest days, it's a very diverse state as well as the
biggest, I really liked the desert parts of California, Arizona, New Mexico and
Texas, really different to our deserts...now we are in the Deep South and people
have strong accents, they love Aussies though! It's a women only ride and I am
the only non American, most of the women are great fun...sadly 2 of the riders
had to go home due to falls and breaking their collar bones...now there's only
20 riders left and 2 guides who ride as well....am having a great time except
for the ailments...tonight we will have Margaritas which are a celebration for
crossing a state border, yahoo! Must go, hope you are well.
