Australia Govt - Visa Charges – Nov 2011 - Form 990i Use this form as a guide to charges and fees (in Australian dollars) for visas and services from 1 November 2011. If you have applied prior to 1 November 2011, please refer to the version that was applicable when you lodged your application. Earlier versions are available on www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i.htm Payment (or evidence of payment if made in Australia or elsewhere) must accompany your application and is generally not refunded if the application is unsuccessful. All fees and charges are listed in Australian dollars (AUD) and correct at time of release. If you are paying fees and charges outside Australia, payment will need to be made in the currency and in the method accepted by the Australian High Commission, Embassy or Consulate, where the payment is being made. To find out the currencies and methods accepted in the country in which you are making your payment see www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i/converter.htm. Fees may be subject to adjustment at any time. Visa Application Charges may be subject to adjustment on 1 July each year. This may increase the cost of a visa. For general information regarding Visa Application Charges, see www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i/vac.htm Internet applications – payment methods Payment for any internet application must be made in Australian dollars by credit card online, or for some application types, by Bpay using an Australian telephone or internet banking service. Bpay is only available for students in Australia applying for their initial student visa or further stay student visa. If you already have a visa and it will expire within the next 7 days, do not use Bpay because the payment will not be received before your visa expires. Lodged in Australia Acceptable payment methods for applications lodged in Australia are: • credit card; • debit card in person; or • bank cheque or money order made payable to the ‘Department of Immigration and Citizenship’. Payment by cash or personal cheque may delay processing. Please do not send cash through the post. B. Lodged at a processing centre in Australia Acceptable payment methods for applications lodged in Australia at a processing centre are: • credit card; • Australia Post money order made payable to the ‘Department of Immigration and Citizenship’; • bank cheque: – drawn on a bank with representation in Australia, – in Australian dollars, and made payable to the ‘Department of Immigration and Citizenship’; or • International Money Order: – drawn on a bank with representation in Australia, – in Australian dollars, and made payable to the ‘Department of Immigration and Citizenship’. Note: 1. Personal cheques are not accepted. 2. Travellers’ cheques are not accepted. C. Lodged outside Australia For clients outside Australia, before you pay your application charge, see www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i.htm to check the acceptable methods of payment at the Australian High Commission, Embassy or Consulate. Payment for a visa application lodged outside Australia may also be made in Australia. To find out how to make a payment in Australia for an application lodged outside Australia, see www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i.htm Medical and radiological examination costs Permanent and some temporary visa applicants may be required to undertake and pay for radiological and medical examinations. All costs are paid by the applicant directly to the doctors or clinics undertaking the examination. The cost of these examinations undertaken in Australia is approximately $430. Costs of examinations undertaken outside Australia may vary from country to country. There may be additional costs if further tests or couriers are required. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (the department) does not regulate such charges but where allegations of excessive charging are made, the department may contact the doctor and request that charges be amended in line with prices charged in that country for similar medical examinations. For people being examined in Australia, there is also a fee payable to Medibank Health Solutions for a digital photo of each person examined. Application charges and related costs Maritime crew Maritime Crew (Subclass 988) Nil Note: The maritime crew visa is only available to crew of non-military ships and is not valid for air travel to Australia. Applicants must be outside Australia. Applications must be either lodged over the internet or mailed to the Brisbane Global Processing Centre.
