Sacramento amigo, Rick, pondering the fate of the world.  Or who will win the pending World Series?  Or maybe the imminent Federal Election - after a two years hiatus of 'bar humbug'.

The seals like sun baking on the timber beams that support the pier.  There is a real art to propelling up 4' from the water and landing on a vacant piece of horizontal timber hardwood. 
Some of the seals take a while to perfect their launch onto a vacant sun-baking spot, but it doesn't stop them from trying and trying again and again.  It is a soft landing if one falls off.
