BoysTown and Twiggy Forrest join forces to provide jobs for indigenous youth

UNEMPLOYED indigenous youths have been told by mining magnate Andrew 'Twiggy' Forrest that he will guarantee them jobs

A deal will be signed on Thursday between help service BoysTown and GenerationOne, an organisation founded by mining giant Mr Forrest.

The partnership will give indigenous youth in southeast Queensland a leg up in their search for employment with the program to generate hundreds of new jobs.

BoysTown will supply the trained jobseekers while GenerationOne will rely on Mr Forrest's extensive business contacts to link the youths with jobs.

BoysTown CEO Tracy Adams said her organisation would boost young participant's prospects of finding a job by training them to meet entry level requirements for specific Australian industries.

"We provide participants with skills that allow them to enter work straight from training at no cost to the employer."

Mr Forrest said his end of the deal would be to ensure this training resulted in a 'guaranteed job'.

"BoysTown embodies all the critical tools in ensuring our most disadvantaged are supported in breaking the cycle of disparity."

"The golden threads of support - from numeracy and literacy, to securing a driver's licence - are all part of the support and training that BoysTown provides," Mr Forrest said.
