Bank Teller and Jean aka ChiliDog are parking at Nth Turramurra village car park (700m NNE of Burns Rd) in Valley Park Cres for 7:40am rollout

  •       When boarding and alighting the Berowra Ferry, walk your bike as the metal rails on the cement ramps are often slippery

  •       Cyclists commencing at Nth Turra' do not pass Hornsby start point, rather usually catch those departing from Hornsby when approaching Pie in the Sky

  •       Hardcopy these ride directions and bring on Sunday

  •       Click on: Risk Warnings which warns of the dangers of cycling on public roads with motor cars, potholes and over bridges with vertical timber planks with gaps

1st Leg: Nth Turra' 37km or Hornsby 26km to Red Herring Café Brooklyn for 1st Nosh Stop (30 min)

¨       Longer Ride - Cinque Montagnes [100km]  Bank Teller and Jean aka ChiliDog are starting at 7:40am.
Park in Nth Turramurra village car park (700m NNE of Burns Rd) in Valley Park Cres (little road off to the left of Bobbin Head Rd opposite the Corner Café on LHS) for 37km leg to
Red Herring Café Brooklyn.  Rollout 7:40am passing Kalkari Reserve after 10.2km. 4 clicks later, R into Pac Highway at lights after passing Asquith Golf Course. Then due Nth on Old Pacific Highway.

¨       Shorter Ride - Three Hills [74km]  Harry aka KayakMan and Pacific Pete are starting at 8:10am.
Rollout Hornsby car-park [100m Nth/West of Railway Hotel in Jersey St] by 8:15am cycling 500m Nth up Jersey St, L into Wharf Rd for 60m, R [at traffic lights] onto Pacific Highway and cycle Nth on Old Pacific Highway.  to Brooklyn Rd where you turn right and cycle 2.8km to
Red Herring Café.

Both groups pass Berowra station 8:35am, Cowan station 8:45am and Pie in the Sky Cafe at 8:55am.  After passing Pie in the Sky Cafe descend almost to water level, turn into Brooklyn Rd for 2.8km for 1st Nosh Stop (30 min) at Red Herring Café, Brooklyn from 9:15am. 

2nd Leg: Red Herring Café, Brooklyn to Andy's Cafe, Nth Galston 33km - 85 min

9:45am return for 11km and R into Berowra Waters Rd for flattish section before descending to picturesque Berowra Waters 10:30am for 2nd Sag Stop (10 min) during ride on the punt. 

Or continue south and return to either Hornsby [52km] or Nth Turra’ [75km] car parks

After cycling thru rural Berrilee and Arcadia we take 2nd Nosh Stop (30 min) at Andy's cafe from 11:10am.

 

 

3rd Leg: Andy's Cafe to either Nth Turramurra 28km - 70 min or Hornsby 13km - 30 min

11:40am commence return home continuing South along Galston Rd to the large roundabout at Galston, Left to descend and scale Galston George passing familiar Hornsby Heights' bus shelter.

Continue 3km to Hookham's Corner and either -

       R       2km to Jersey St, Hornsby - ETR 12:10pm; or

 

¨       L        2.5km up Pacific H'way to Asquith station, then off-road to Royston Ave thru backstreets of Asquith, R in to Ku' ring' gai Chase Rd, Ahead into Bobbin Head Rd for 15km to Nth Turra' shops on Bobbin Head Rd - ETR 12:50pm.

Scribe's wrap-up of Anticlockwise loop of Greater Sydney - Turramurra, Windsor Richmond, Springwood, Penrith train to Seven Hills, M2, Turramurra - 126km - 6 cyclists when we include Matt aka Printer who started at Hornsby and cycled to Windsor, but no one told him we'd cycled onto Richmond for our 1st Nosh Stop

Gearing back up after putting on the Nose Bag at scenic Richmond Oval

Stretching the legs at the Yarramundi Lookout.  It is only a 2.58km climb from the Shaws Creek bridge to the Lookout, but Golly Gosh the initial 800m are steep-est-est-est.  Notwithstanding both Jean and John climbed in a 39/27, where as Scribe, using a triple chain-ring, dropped back to 28T on the front and his biggest chain-ring of 28T on the rear, meaning he was cycling 1:1.  Not unsurprisingly Scribe thought Yarramundi Hill was Easy Peasy, but he cycled Slowly Slowly
