Tour de Wiseman's Ferry - Sunday 21 May - circa 140km

This Sunday's advertised ride, Tour de Macarthur is an 'away game', and not all of us can get a leave pass for 7 hours to Campbelltown.  Hence, Arno invites those interested in a long hit-out to a 140km ride commencing at 7:50am Sunday from Cnr Pacific Highway and Galston Rd.

Descend Galston Gorge and climb to Galston, thence NW along Cattai Ridge Rd, Wiseman's Ferry Rd to Wiseman's Ferry, along the Hawkesbury towards Portland, back up to Wiseman's Ferry Rd at the caravan park/cafe, Cattai Ridge Rd, Arcadia Rd, back to Mt Ku-ring-gai via Berowra Waters - approx 140 km.

If interested, -

(i)         phone Arno on 9940.3235 hm or 0418 552.656; or

(ii)        e-mail Arno  roosink@optusnet.com.au

Only seasoned cyclists who can ride 140km should attend.

There is no formal ride organiser.

Arno, nor anyone else who participates, accepts no liability for any accident that any participant might incur.

Risk Warning - as there are a few timber bridges around Wisemans Ferry:

If you approach a timber bridge with vertical timber beams, don't attempt "pick-a-plank" if you notice any gaps between planks which appear (from a distance) to be >20mm wide.  There is nothing "un-macho" to dismount and walk your bike over a timber bridge.  Falling off after due to a wheel becoming caught between two timber joists is invariably very, very painful.

At least 10 cyclists have broken their necks in the last 20 years in Australia when their wheel got caught in a gap between two planks when they foolishly opted to pick-a-plank
