Sunday, 24 Dec - Tour de Windsor, Freeman's Reach, Nth Richmond, Lowlands, Cornwallis:

i)          rollout Turramurra between 6:35am and 6:45am via Browns Water Hole, M2 (7:05am from Vimiera Rd, Marsfield) to Seven Hills station, Iron Horse to Windsor - then Freeman's Reach, Nth Richmond, Lowlands, Cornwallis anti-clockwise loop, thence Iron Horse to Seven Hills, M2 to Turra' - 83.1km - ETR 12:30pm; or

ii)         Porter's Lookout, Dural by 6:55am via Annangrove Rd to Riverstone station, Iron Horse to Windsor, clockwise loop north, thence Iron Horse from Windsor to Riverstone, cycle back to Dural along Annangrove Rd -  84.2 km - ETR 12:13pm

 

Ø    Access 81 km at "Ride Calendar 2005 - Oct to Dec" for Ride Description of Start from Turramurra station

Ø    Access 84.2 km at "Ride Calendar 2005 - Oct to Dec" for Ride Description of Start from Porter's Lookout Wyong

Ø    If driving from Inner West, park in Vimiera Rd Marsfield and join ride where we enter the M2

Ø    Hardcopy these directions and bring on Sunday

Ø    Take extreme care at both of the two 'on' and 'off' ramps on M2 - cars often travel faster than they seem to be

Ø    Expend 5 min studying your street directory for the 39km clockwise loop from Windsor, Cornwallis, Lowlands, Richmond, Freeman's Reach returning to Windsor

Ø    DO NOT ride two abreast on single lane roads with an unbroken centre line

Ø    Cycling without Public Liability cover is as silly as driving a car without 3rd Party - join Bicycle NSW or Bike Vic for PL insurance, or upgrade your household policy to include PL beyond your front fence, so that all Muggs are equally protected against a serious accident

Ø    When passing a fellow Mugg, always provide a metre clearance.  If you can't, or are passing on the inside, you MUST call out loudly eg. "passing inside tight" etc

Snapshot of 2 alternate start routes:
Commence between 6:35am and 6:45am from Turramurra station carpark.  After 22km - 3.7km on Kissing Point Rd, 1.45km thru Browns Water Hole, 17km on M2/Abbott Rd/Prospect Highway to Seven Hills station - we aboard 7:50am train to Windsor arriving 8:19am. 
Thence Windsor, Freeman's Reach, Nth Richmond, Lowlands, Cornwallis - 39km anti-clockwise flat loop.
Catch 10:55am Windsor train to Seven Hills station, followed by 24km cycle back to Turra' station  -  ETR 12:30pm.
Or commence from Dural by 6:55am and pedal 23.7km via Annangrove Rd to Riverstone station, catch 8:08am train for the 11min ride to Windsor station - meeting the Turra' brigade on same train. 
Thence 39km clockwise flat loop. 
Catch 10:55am Windsor 11 train min ride to Riverstone arriving 11:06pm.
Pedal 23.7km to Dural via Annangrove Rd - ETR 12:13pm.

a)       Two alternate 1st Legs to Windsor
 i)        From Turramurra station car park via M2 to Seven Hills station, thence train to Windsor station – 22km:
 Rollout Turramurra station between 6:35 and 6:45am up Rohini St to Pac H'way, R at lights and 40m later L for steep descent of Kissing Point Rd. shortly crossing Comenarra Parkway at lights and proceed to descend cycle path, Browns Waterhole, followed by a short steep climb to M2.  Pedal through a narrow 20m tunnel and Sag Stop (3 min) before joining M2 on south side at 7:05am from Vimiera Rd, Marsfield.
 Take extreme care passing 2 on and 2 off roads during 14.2km on M2 to where Old Windsor Rd meets Abbott Rd and continue 1.4km W along Abbott Road.  Continue 700m W along Prospect Highway to Seven Hills station on LHS, entering via Terminus Rd to Seven Hills station to catch the 7:50am train in a frontish carriage [joined by cyclists which commence from Dural at Riverstone station].  Arrive Windsor at 8:19am.

Cycle   ii)       From "Porter Scenic Lookout" and before Dural Country Club) to Riverstone station 23.7km:
Rollout of Porter Scenic Lookout by 6:55am -

  • L Nth up Old Northern Rd for 1.2km,

  • L into Wyoming Rd for 700m,

  • L into Langford Rd/Davey Rd for 1.6km, 

  • L into Derriwong Rd for 500m, 

  • R into Wirrabara Rd for 600m, 

  • R into Pellit Lane which soon veers L for 180m,

  • R into Kenthurst Rd for 1km,

  • L into Annangrove Rd for 10.5km, 

  • R into Windsor Rd for 2km, 

  • L into Garfield Rd East for 2.9km to Riverstone station,

where, after purchasing a snack at the Riverstone Milk Bar meet the Turra' brigade in a frontish carriage on the
8:08am train Sag Stop (11 min on train) which arrives Windsor at 8:19am.

2nd Leg: Windsor, Freeman's Reach, Richmond,  Lowlands, Cornwallis, Windsor station -  39km

Return to Windsor station at 10:35am to grab a feed Sag Stop in time to aboard the train departing 25 mins past the half hour 10:55am (or 11:25am) for -

(i)         11 min ride to Riverstone station, alighting 11:09am (or 11:27am); or

(ii)        32 min ride to Seven Hills station, alighting at 11:39am (or 11:57am).

  • Ahead up Kissing Point Rd for 3.7km

  • R into Pacific H'way for 250m

  • Left into Rohini St for 200m

  • Left into Turramurra station carpark.

ETR Turramurra station 12:30pm.

 

Scribe’s rap-up of last Sunday Wagstaffe ferry and Lisarow Iron Horse - 118km - 14 cyclists

 

14 cyclists - Tony aka Samurai, Arno aka The Kaiser, Grant aka BeanCounter, Kerry H, Rex aka Pimpernel, Scribe, Bazza, Peter aka Another BeanCounter, Michael M, Ann aka ToothFairy, Dieter, Helga aka Blonde Bombshell, Peter aka Pacific, Andrew aka TugBoat - arrived at 1st Sag Stop of Church Point on schedule for the Palm Beach ferry to Wagstaffe.  

Tony, Arno, Grant 'n Rex are all married, and didn't have a leave-pass for the day, whereupon they returned home. ToothFairy rode with us to Palm Beach, but had to visit some of her patients that arvo, whereupon she "did a Uie" at Palm Beach.  The rest of us aboarded the 9am ferry bound north.

Can't work out whether Dieter is a an Angry Old Man or a Cool Hippie Dude!
