Canberra's premier randonnee 'Fitz's Challenge' will again be presented by Pedal Power ACT on Sunday, 29 Oct, ably presented by Audax ACT Region members. Fitz's Challenge is held in the scenic terrain in the foothills of the Brindabella mountain range SW of Canberra.   It is second only to the 200km Audax Alpine Classic for patronage by ardent endurance cyclists.

A few riders on Muggs rides have expressed interest in driving to Canberra this Oct to ride the 158km Fitz's Challenge with about 2,600m of climbing Thru the last '90s Muggaccinos regularly made the annual pilgrimage to complete the former 150km Fitz's route where we always stayed at Victor Lodge Guest House and dined at the plethora of fine restaurants at nearby Kingston Square

Laurence aka Tyro rubacki@yahoo.com 0416 820.412 and Greg GregP@Custance.com.au 0418 607.866 are riding the 158km course.  Todd S TSowter@agl.com.au is also keen to cycle Fitz's.  They welcome an e-mail from others who may also want to visit our National Capital.  Experienced Audax campaigner, Jean E aka DishPig jetienne@bigpond.net.au, who has completed several 200km Audax rides, is another keen starter.  Terry P. aka Navigator tperram@bigpond.net.au is also contemplating riding Fitz's this Oct.  Eric aka PapaBear has completed 11 Audax Alpine Classics and a plethora of Fitz's.  Eric is a certain starter for the 2006 210km Fitz's Epic and welcomes a phone call between 7pm-9pm to 9449.6445. or Eric.Wehr@beiersdorf.com  Michael M who rode Tour de Macarthur recently has entered the 100km route.

If you are also keen, e-mail ScribePJ@TPG.com.au and your name and e-mail address will be included herein to facilitate all interested Muggs' cyclists maximizing their trip to this year's Fitz's. You won't regret it, although your quads might not be too keen to talk to you for a while afterwards.

Ex Muggs, Suicide Blonde and Smurf who now live in Canberra are also participating.

As is customary, you can book good digs at Victor Lodge at around $85 p/n twin share with b'fast or the adjoining Motel Monaro (02) 6295.7777 ph (4km SE of centre of Canberra) 29 Dawes St, Kingston (02) 6295.2466 fax.

Fitz's covers the same roads used for the prestigious annual 'Canberra Tour' race. Pedal Power ACT contains more experienced endurance climbers than any other cycle club in Australia.  If you have aspirations to test yourself against the best, Fitz's Challenge is not to be missed - the recently introduced 215km Fitz's Epic Challenge with approx 3,850m of climbing is noticeably more difficult.
