On the ferry to Wagstaffe on a corker of a Winter's day where t'was so warm we had to sit on the upper deck to catch a bit of breeze.

We lost Martin, Pimpernel 'n BeanCounter at our 1st Sag Stop of Church Point, as they opted to return via West Head, rather than continue to Palm Beach.  Samurai 'n Heineken continued on the ferry 'til Ettalong as they were cycling back via Mooney Mooney 'n Mt White.  The rest of us incl ToothFairy, Pacific Pete, TugBoat, Guy 'n Scribe disembarked at quaint Wagstaffe Wharf and took the Scenic Route adjacent to the Blue Pacific heading north to Lisarow station, where we again indulged upon a suitably fitting luncheon at the Subway chain-store amidst glorious sublime Winter sunshine. But not before somehow scaling the dreaded Bahoo Rd 900m vertical ascent.

TugBoat, full of running, on the slight incline from PitS

Guy, at the same spot, about 400m Sth of Pie in the Sky

Footnote:  Three weeks ago Guy attended his inaugural Muggs ride joining us at Sutherland Leisure Centre.  Whilst driving from his Drummoyne digs to Sutherland on that foggy, moist morn', Guy could've been pondering that he may be wasting his time, to perhaps be told of a "wash-out" or evidence a "no show".  However, 5 other Muggs that morn' were intent upon completing that advertised ride heading due Sth to Austinmer and returning thru RNP.  (Over the last 20 or so years, Guy has completed a zillion ocean swims, sharing the water with the Noahs that feed off the fish.  However, a shoulder injury has lately caused him to buy a two wheeler treadley which he had cycled 50km or so at a leisurely pace.)  Guy's bike has a double chain ring only on the front, with 39:23 his lowest gear.  In the carpark at Sutherland pre-ride, Guy expressed his trepidation that he may not be able to hold the pace, to which Scribe retorted, "Don't worry, you will be fine."  That day, he had to climb the arduous/daunting/steep "Stanwell Park to Stanwell Tops".  He hotly pursued Martin who was able to draw upon a triple chainring, as do most of us.

A week later Guy was cycling due Nth to Wyong on a Muggs' ride, and visited the legendary Mt White which he only knew of from weather reports which had occasionally customarily reported "Fog at Mt White".

Today Guy scaled the precipitous Paroo Rd on a 39:23 - only 900m but seriously, nastily steep, as anyone who has climbed it will readily attest.

The "Guy" who turned up only three weeks ago perhaps with some apprehension completed the 118km Lisarow ride today with 3 tough climbs where the pace was on all day.

Me conjures that when he was driving to Sutherland on a moist morn', that in the space of three weeks, he wouldn't 've thought he'd do a geography course of Sydney's perimeter and push up two Killer Climbs with others cycling triples with a 25 or 27 on the back.

NB:    Rex aka Pimpernel is another new recruit.  His intro to Muggs isn't dissimilar to Guy's, as Rex is also  "full of beans" with a "never say die attitude"Scribe will feature Rex's intro soon.
