Several Muggaccinos' cyclists are doing the 2005 "Great Tasmanian Bike Ride"

Sat 5 February to Sunday 13 February inclusive.

Most crew are flying from Sydney to Launceston on Thurs 3 Feb to start at Deloraine on Sat 5 Feb for 570km of hills and slopes.  Thence flying out of Hobart on Tues 15 Feb.  The Spreadsheet under this URL provides a listing as at 30 Dec of available flights and prices which might change any time.

Already 16 confirmed starters:  Terry Perram aka Navigator, Terry's running mate Tony M, Karen Ward aka Kaza, Trev aka Tornado, Phil aka Bank Teller, Roslyn Russell aka Rocket, Simon O’Neill aka Engineer, Kirsty, Leonie Peterson, Simon, Sarah, Peter Williams aka Gobbler 'n Ang Andrews, Lisa, Maria 'n Ross.  So there will always be plenty of chatter as sunset approaches at Beer-a-Clock.

Testimonial
Bank Teller has completed several week or two week rides:
(i)      France to Spain over the
Pyranees Mountains,
(ii)     USA in California, Nevada and Arizona
(iii)    Melb to Sydney '88,
(iv)    Tweed Heads to Hornsby 2000
(v)     several NSW Big Rides and Bike Vic Rides, incl two Tasmania Rides in 'Jan '97 and Jan '99.

Those two Tasmania rides in '97 and '99 are right up there with the best, 'cause Tasmania in mid-Summer is marvellous.  Each Tasmanian Ride either starts or finishes at/near Hobart.  Battery Point, Port Arthur and a host of other marvellous landmarks around the Port of Hobart (where the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race finishes) provide delightful watering holes after a day in the saddle, such scaling challenging Mt. Wellington - which Scribe has "mounted" thrice.  It can be a balmy day at sea level and chilly at the top.

Contact Phil Johnston ScribePJ@tpg.com.au or 9312.3319 or Kaza 0425 266.540 if you want to join the burgeoning throng of Muggs who are migrating south to the land of Boags Premium, Cradle Mountain, apples, old growth forests, Cadbury and Ninth Island - this Feb for a sojourn not to be easily forgotten.  The close date for registration with Bike Vic is fast approaching.
