Ø    No trackwork on Western Line from Richmond

Ø    Ride Leader:  Brian Willis  9807.6439   Ride Organiser:  Phil Johnston  9498.3684 hm

Ø    Hardcopy these directions and bring on Sunday

Ø    Expend 10 mins studying your UBD/Gregory's to familiarize with the below 'cause this is a complex route

Ø    Bring a mobile if you have one, 'cause we invariably experience cyclists going AWOL on our sorties into Deliverance Country

Ø   RTA paints a solid centre-line on single lane roads when there isn't sufficient vision to overtake.  'Ipso facto' always cycle single-file on solid centre-line road sections.
Riding
two abreast during Sackville loop is at own peril

Ø   Get off the road at Sag Stops

Ø   Cycling without Public Liability cover is as asinine as driving without 3rd Party - join Bicycle NSW for PL insurance, so that all Muggs are better protected

Ø    When passing a fellow Mugg, always provide a metre clearance.  If you can't, or are passing on the inside, you MUST call out loudly eg. "passing inside tight" etc

Whippet, Koala Bear, Samurai 'n Kaza with the Nose Bag On at the Narrow Bean Cafe, 10 Waterloo St Narrabeen - 9913.3025 after 55km.

Kaza, Tara, Ned, Pacific Pete 'n Tornado similarly relaxed at out initial sojourn at the Narrow Bean Cafe

Colin, Heineken, BeanCounter, n LongHaul similarly feeling mellow.

Quote of the day came from Nerida aka Ned, who, concerned about her tyro buddy, Tara, who'd never pedalled over fifty clicks in a ride before last Sunday, said as we saddled up after a 40 min rest at the cafe.  "I'd better watch out for Tara as she's feeling tired."  To which Bank Teller retorted, "Feeling tired?  We've just parked our butts 'n pigged out for half an hour!!!  How could anyone be feeling tired."  Tara couldn't 've been too worn-out, as she managed to pack a punch down the final 2km stretch when Ned, Tara, Scribe and Samurai formed a juxtaposed peloton to lock-up one lane to avert any dum stuff over the 3 lane section (with no shoulder) from the St Ives toffs in a hurry going no-where.

A street map of last Sunday's ride is at a URL under '78' in the 'Ride Calendar 2004 - July to Sept' page which precedes opening the associated Bullsheet.

Thanks to the 4 crew who answered my e-mail request last Sunday night to log a Climb Time for the 3.55km "Akuna Bay Marina to West Head street sign" KOM Climb to facilitate my beta testing which is progressing well.

A new ride from Emu Plains station to Richmond station on Sunday, 26 Sept

Last Monday week, 24 Aug, Mark Carrington aka LongHaul ('cause Mark is 2 weeks away from commencing his 2nd Perth to Sydney cycle), Bank Teller and Tornado 'reconnaissanced' a beaut new Sunday ride from Turramurra station carpark for Sunday 26 Sept from 7:20am along the M2 to Blacktown station, thence a train to Emu Plains with a wonderful short but really, really steep 2.33km climb up the Old Bathurst Rd to Blaxland, thence onto Springwood for a Nosh Stop at the delightful Old Post Office Shoppe cafe.  Thence due NE along Hawkesbury Rd, Springwood Rd, thru Yarramundi descending from the Hawkesbury Heights Lookout to Richmond.  We catch the train back to Blacktown and pedal back the M2 to Turramurra with an ETR of 1:45pm for the 92km ride with only one KOM Climb up Old Bathurst Rd to Blaxland.  Those not wishing to bust a boiler up Old Bathurst Rd can remain on our train three more stations and alight at Blaxland station and meet us at Blaxland, which may necessitate an extra cafe stop, 'cause the initial 2km of our 2.33km KOM Climb up Old Bathurst Rd is a ball-terror, with the final 300m easy.

The Ride Description for Sunday 26 Sept ride is in table format.
