Scribe's rap-up of Brunch at Pearl Beach - 87km

18 cyclists gathered at our 1st Nosh Stop at the Mt White Village Store from 9:10am, after everyone had gone gangbusters over the 35km initial leg.  Yamaha, Rolf, Andrew, Whippet were the first in, with Whippet furnishing a PB for the arduous 35km of 1:13m @ 28.7km/h. Neon Lights aka Claude, BigGears, and Navigator weren't far afield.  Publican (fresh from a week's interval training from Manilla to Walcha) eventually flogged Scribe in the ball-terror climb out of Pearl Beach after lunch, but Publican and Widget were none to pleased when Teller piped 'em on the line when he rushed passed 'em 300m short of The Bikie Hangout.

Speedster Andrew, who'd kept Whippet's and Yamaha's throttles to the floor all the way to Mt White, together with Princess Monaco and PapaBear, turned around at Mt White, with 15 continuing N/E for the 18.5km Second Leg to Kariong.

After a quickish 21km 3rd Leg, down to Sth Woy Woy and further south to Pearl Beach, we savored our 3rd Nosh Stop [45 mins] from 11:40am, after a hard fought 74.7km, at the Sit ‘N’ Chat Beach Café (4341.3686 ph) where the service was quick and the Prima coffee superb.

All bar Oakley and Andrew E in the below pic had cycled the Main Drag to Pearl, but the two with local knowledge had scurried their way around an off-road mountain bike cement path (along the coast from Umina to Pearl), thereby circumventing the Killer Climb into/out of The Toffs' Playground.

The little nipper (almost totally obscured) on Teller's shoulder (centre back) doing the High Five is the son of the lady who volunteered to take this pic at Woy Woy station as we awaited the 1:27pm Old Rattler back to Hornsby.
